Community Spirit

From big-band dances in the 1930s–1950s to today’s original-music showcases, the hall has long been a stage for Vallejo’s shared stories.

Our Story: A Legacy of Unity

Origins. Samoset Tribe No. 22 formed in 1869, reflecting Vallejo’s long tradition of fellowship and civic life.

The Hall. In 1925, the tribe built Red Men’s Hall at 431 Georgia Street, designed by C.E. Perry. Period reliefs and murals reflect 1920s design motifs associated with the building’s fraternal order.

A Social Mainstay. Through the mid‑20th century, the ballroom was a hotspot where legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, and Erskine Hawkins performed — live music, dancing, and community connection at its finest. (SFGATE)

Today. The hall remains a living venue for concerts, comedy, and cultural gatherings, including the 4th Corner Speakeasy series and Art Walk after-parties—keeping the building’s community role very much alive.

Centennial. In 2025, Red Men’s Hall marks 100 years since construction with special community programming.
